The parents of five-year-old Ellery Clark confirmed Monday (Nov. 25) that she passed away Sunday night at McMaster Children’s Hospital.

Ellery was diagnosed with stage four alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a very rare and aggressive form of cancer earlier this year.

Her battle with the deadly disease made headlines across the globe after Disney granted her dying wish earlier this month by allowing her an advanced screening of Frozen 2.

“You’ve left your tired body behind and now I feel you EVERYWHERE,” said Ellery’s mother, Ariane, in a post on the Ellery’s Army Facebook page.

“There is a tightness in my chest, but I know that is YOU, snuggling up close, so I can take you with me forever.”

Ellery contracted a rare and severe blood infection following her chemotherapy treatments.

After doctors told the Clarks this Fall that Ellery’s condition was deteriorating and it was unlikely she would survive much longer, her father, Ian, turned to the internet to find a way to have an early screening of Frozen 2. Frozen is Ellery’s favourite movie.

Celebrities, including Arnold Schwarzenegger and the voice of Olaf the snowman, Josh Gad, heard of the family’s plight and called on Disney to grant the dying girl’s wish.

Disney heard the call and on Nov. 15, a representative from the company came to Hamilton to give Ellery and her parents a top-secret screening of the unreleased movie.

“You did so good kid,” Ariane wrote in tribute to her daughter. “I couldn’t be more proud of you.”
