Crossing guards in Hamilton will get a bump in pay in September, with Council agreeing to pay crossing guards employed by the City a Living Wage of $20.80 an hour.

The new wages will be a $1.75 per hour increase from current payments.

Thursday’s budget meeting also debated budget request from the Corporate Services department ($47.09 million from 2023’s $44.95 million) and the City Manager’s office ($16.02 million from $15.18 million).

Friday’s meeting will be a busy agenda, with deliberations likely taking most of the day.

The entire budget will come up for debate January 30.
