A Hamilton man is celebrating a substantial win after hitting the jackpot with his Pools Card.

Edwin Mcaloney a construction worker and father, struck it big with a $88,967.40 in the recent draw.

For Mcaloney, the thrill of playing Proline during the NFL season has always been a source of excitement, according to a statement by OLG.

“I get really into the game. Playing POOLS makes me feel even closer to the game. I knew I won, but I was waiting to see how much,” said Mcaloney while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

He wasted no time sharing the exciting news with his loved ones. His first call was to his mother, “she’s my biggest supporter. She was so happy for me,” Mcaloney said.

As for how he plans to use his newfound fortune, Mcaloney intends to allocate a portion of the winnings to clear some bills and is considering purchasing a classic car

“I’ll take some time before I make any decisions,” he added.

As he collected his winnings, he concluded, “I am so grateful to have the opportunity to place bets on my favourite game. It’s humbling to win money like this.”
