Group including 11 Hamilton residents wins huge lotto prize

A group of residents from the Hamilton and Niagara area is a lot richer after a recent lottery win.

A group of residents from the Hamilton and Niagara area is a lot richer after a recent lottery win.

The winners — coworkers at the Good Shepherd Centre — have won the $1 million MAXMILLIONS prize in the January 7, 2020 Lotto Max draw.

“It was our first time playing as a group and a first time win for all,” said Christine Maleta while picking up their cheque at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

“We’re still trying to comprehend this great news. We’re all very excited.”

The winners have various plans for their share of the money, including helping family, putting a down payment on a house, and saving for retirement.

The winning ticket was purchased at Fortinos on Dundurn Street in Hamilton.
