A Glanbrook driver was caught Sunday night travelling more than twice the posted speed limit on White Church Rd., according to Hamilton Police.

“His licence and vehicle were immediately seized for seven days,” said police. “A finding of guilt in April will result in additional penalties from the court system.”

Police say the driver was pulled over just after 9:00 p.m. while travelling westbound near Miles Rd. a blue Ford Escape SUV.

“Through investigation, police learned the vehicle was travelling at 135 km/hr in a posted 60 km/hr zone,” added Hamilton Police.

“A traffic stop was conducted and police confirmed the driver was a 20-year-old Glanbrook man with a G2-class licence.”

He is facing charges of stunt driving and speeding.

In accordance with the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, stunt driving violations result in an immediate seven-day driver’s licence suspension and vehicle impoundment for the same period.

If found guilty in court, the penalties for stunt driving could include a fine between $2,000 and $10,000, up to six months in jail, and a two-year licence suspension.
