If you plan to do some Christmas shopping in Hamilton this holiday season, you might be happy to hear that you can park for free for up to two hours in a number of neighbourhoods.
The city recently announced that residents and visitors can take advantage of free, limited-time parking from Nov. 24 until Dec. 24.
The initiative is being rolled out in various business improvement areas, including the Ancaster BIA, Barton Village BIA, Concession Street BIA, Hamilton Downtown (West Avenue to Queen, Hunter to Cannon and James Street from Charlton to Barton), International Village BIA, King Street West BIA, Ottawa Street BIA, Locke Street BIA and the Westdale Village BIA.
There will also be free parking in all Dundas municipal lots from Dec. 1 to Dec. 31.
Metered parking in the city costs $2 an hour and the amount of time a driver can purchase varies based on the area. Parking metres are operational from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.
In some parts of the downtown area, parking is already complimentary after 6 p.m. and on Saturdays.
While parking will be free for two hours in the aforementioned areas, the city reminds drivers to obey all existing parking and stopping regulations.inthehammer's Editorial Standards and Policies advertising
