A person who walked into a local hospital with a gunshot wound was actually a federal parolee who Hamilton police believe was targeted.
The person was arrested on an outstanding warrant and returned to custody, Hamilton police said.
Police said they received a report about the shooting victim at about 11 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13 in the area of King Street East and Owen Place in Hamilton. They said the individual suffered a “non-life threatening” gunshot wound on the leg.
“At this time, the shooting is believed to be a targeted incident,” police said in a press release today (Aug. 14).
Police said they later learned the victim was a federal parolee. They are continuing to investigate the case.
“We will not be providing any further details on the arrested individual in this as they are also a victim,” police said in an email to inthehammer.com.
