An East Hamilton restaurant has launched a GoFundMe

An East Hamilton restaurant has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help ‘Fuel the Front Line’ in the city’s battle against COVID-19.

The King’s Landing Bar & Grill, located in the King Rose plaza on King Street East, is preparing and delivering meals at a discounted price for health-care workers and first responders.

“With cases of COVID-19 on the rise, we as a local community must try to come together & help support the people whose efforts are most brave & appreciated in the face of danger,” the campaign’s GoFundMe page says.

“While our business remains closed, our kitchen is ready to prepare discounted meals & provide support for the many essential Healthcare Staff who are our Front Line of defence against this pandemic.”

So far, the campaign has raised a little under $600 with the help of 13 donors.

The way it works is that for every $10 donation, King’s Landing will prepare and package one meal to send to first responders or hospital staff.

Once you make your donation, it will take approximately 24 to 48 hours for the order to be fulfilled.

The restaurant stipulates that any donation amount will be accepted, so it doesn’t have to be as much as $10 and they send the meal deliveries out in group sizes of 10.

“For donations of $20 or greater, we will send the delivery with a card bearing the donor’s names, and send you a photo!” they said.

The meals will be delivered to clinics, hospitals and first-responder stations and, if possible, the restaurant says they will take special requests to send meals to specified stations or wards.

For those looking to participate in this Fuel the Front Line initiative, they can make a donation through the GoFundMe page or reach out to The King’s Landing directly at 905.544.7766 (or email at [email protected]).
