Hamilton Police have confirmed the identity of the 19-year-old man killed in a downtown drive-by shooting yesterday.

Alexander Circiumaru of Hamilton was shot down on March 6, shortly before 1 p.m. He was attacked in front of the Service Ontario at 119 King St. W.

When first responders arrived, Circiumaru was alive and rushed to the hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

Police publicly identified Circiumaru the following day. They also confirmed investigators were performing an autopsy on him that same day.

So far, investigators have learned a man jumped out of the car while Circiumaru was on the sidewalk and fired several rounds. He then hopped back in the car and took off from the area.

The car fled west on King St. and was last seen near the intersection with Queen St. Police described the shooter as dressed all in black clothing and wearing a face mask. They believe he was in a dark sedan, possibly a Honda Civic.

“Police believe this to be a targeted attack and are reviewing area CCTV video in an effort to identify those people involved,” investigators wrote.

Anyone with information or video evidence can call police at 905-546-3874 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
