A Hamilton family trying to come to grips with an unimaginable tragedy is reaching out to the community in their search for justice and comfort.
The family of Jeffrey Johnson, the husband and father of two murdered outside of his West mountain home in December 2019, has set up a Facebook page to encourage friends, family and members of the community to share their memories of Jeff and to keep the memory of the hard-working family man alive.
“He’s my world and this is the only thing that we can do to try and help during this most difficult time,” Jeff’s wife, Christine, told InTheHammer about setting up the ‘Justice For Jeff’ Facebook page.
“I am hoping just getting out what had happened and what we need help from the community might get us some answers.”

On December 6, Jeff, 39, was found on the road by Christine and a neighbour outside his home near West 4th Avenue and Richwill Road suffering from a gunshot wound.
Police, Hamilton Fire and Hamilton Paramedics attended the scene and he was taken to the hospital. He was pronounced dead just after 7:00 a.m.
Jeff worked for a stamped concrete company and was shot while leaving for work that day.
Jeff was the father of two children under the age of eight.
Police believe the shooting to be targeted but Det. Sgt. Steve Bereziuk says investigators have not been able to determine why this happened.
“Jeff was not involved in any criminal subculture,” Bereziuk said at a news conference in January, and he said there is no evidence of any recent extramarital affairs or financial gain by his death.
Hamilton Police and Jeff’s family remain steadfast in their belief that someone knows something and the hope is that by raising the profile of this case and stressing its senselessness, that someone will eventually come forward with the missing pieces of this horrific puzzle.
“We need to show everyone what a loving, honest, hardworking, fun, and adventurous person Jeff was and still is in all of our hearts,” the Facebook page says. “His children and his wife and family and friends need to know what happened and why.”
Jeff’s friends and family have also launched fundraising campaigns to help support his children and have created the hashtag #justiceforjeff to keep the case in social media feeds. Information on these initiatives can be found on the Justice For Jeff Facebook page.
Bumper stickers featuring the hashtag are also up for sale for anyone wanting to help raise the profile of the case.
In January, Hamilton Police released video and images of the car they say was involved Jeff’s murder and at the time, they said that the car was observed in the days leading up to Jeff’s murder conducting surveillance in the neighbourhood.
