Details of drive-by shooting in Downtown Hamilton emerge

Hamilton Police have shared some early details about the drive-by shoot that rocked the downtown core earlier today.

Gunfire erupted shortly before 1 p.m. on Mar. 6 striking a 19-year-old man near King St. W. and MacNab St. S. The man was attacked in front of the Service Ontario at 119 King St. W.

When officers arrived on scene they found the victim suffering gunshot wounds. He was rushed to hospital but declared dead a short time later. He has not been publicly identified.

Investigators believe this was a targeted shooting. However, they have no suspect or vehicle descriptors available as yet.

The impact of the shooting echoed across the city with Mayor Andrea Horwath saying she was “shocked and dismayed to hear about the shooting.”
