Crash involving stolen SUV in Hamilton sends three to hospital

Three people are in hospital – one with serious injuries – after a stolen SUV collided with another vehicle on Upper James Street at Highway 6 in Hamilton Wednesday.

The OPP are reporting that the stolen vehicle was travelling south on Upper James when it crashed into a car attempting to make a left turn on Highway 6 northbound.

The driver of the stolen car escaped injuries and has been charged with possession of stolen property. Both his passengers were taken to hospital, with one of the women suffering serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle that was hit was also transported to hospital with minor injuries.

One of the passengers in the stolen vehicle is also facing charges for outstanding warrants.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said none of the injuries are life-threatening. Burlington OPP detachment is investigating.
