A Hamilton man faces child pornography possession charges after a Niagara Police investigation.
The Niagara Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit launched an investigation into the upload of child porn to a Google cloud server in November and then teamed up with Hamilton’s ICE Unit. Both police services raided a home in Hamilton on Jan. 10 and arrested a man they claim is responsible. Investigators say they seized several electronic devices from the home.
They say evidence they found in the home led to charges for Cody Alexander Fisher, 32 of Hamilton. He’s been charged with possessing child porn and accessing child porn. Additionally, he’s been charged with breaking a court order regarding children from a previous conviction. Fisher remained in custody until a bail hearing.
“Online platforms that allow like-minded users to create, share and store Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) are prevalent on the Internet. Offenders who try and hide their illegal CSAM collections behind an anonymous account in the “cloud” can be identified and will be held accountable for their actions,” Niagara police said.
