Moyowa Omoniyi, 31, and Tiana Edwards, 25, are wanted after a major car crash in Hamilton.

Two suspects have been identified days after allegedly causing a three-car pile-up crash in Hamilton and fleeing the scene in a stolen car.

Three cars, a 2024 white Volkswagen SUV, a black 2010 Nissan and a 2015 white Honda crashed on Eastport Dr. shortly after 8 a.m. on Dec 4. Two women in the Nissan suffered life-threatening injuries. A third man in the Honda was also seriously hurt, but his wounds were not life-threatening.

Hamilton Police allege a man and a woman got out of the Volkswagen and fled the scene. A passing motorist stopped to ask them if they needed help. However, the pair allegedly hopped in his back seat and said they had a gun. They demanded a ride to Mead Ave. and Tate Ave. about four kilometres south from the crash scene.

Police soon responded to the crash site and shut down the area for several hours to investigate. The pair was long gone by then. On Dec. 5, police learned of the alleged carjacking and obtained a description of the pair.

The next day police said they had identified two suspects from Brampron; Moyowa Omoniyi, 31, and Tiana Edwards, 25. Omoniyi faces 12 charges including;

  • two counts of dangerous driving cause bodily harm
  • two counts of failure to stop
  • fraud over $5,000
  • possession of a counterfeited mark
  • identity fraud
  • possession, use, and trafficking a credit card
  • using a forged document
  • robbery with a firearm, and
  • two counts of fail to comply with a release order

Edwards is only charged with robbery with a firearm. Police did not elaborate on what led to Omoniyi’s fraud-related charges. Both suspects remain at large and are considered armed and dangerous. Police said anyone who sees the pair should avoid them and call 911 immediately.
