Bad driving leads to traffic stop and drug charges for two Hamilton men

Two Hamilton men are facing a number of drug charges after one’s bad driving led to a traffic stop in the city’s North-East End.
Two Hamilton men are facing a number of drug charges after one’s bad driving led to a traffic stop in the city’s North-East End.
Hamilton Police say on Wednesday (April 22) shortly after 4:30 p.m., an officer on proactive patrol, observed a grey Jeep Cherokee near the intersection of Cannon and Edgemont.
The vehicle, which was stopped at the time, suddenly pulled forward cutting off the police cruiser.
The officer was able to initiate a traffic stop in the area of Campbell Avenue and Province Street North.

As police approached the car, they noted two men were inside.
Upon questioning the driver, police learned his licence had been suspended by the Ministry of Transportation several years ago.
The driver was subsequently arrested and the vehicle was seized for seven days as a result of Ministry guidelines.
A search of the car uncovered evidence to support drug trafficking activity, police say, as a result, the driver and passenger were arrested.
Both suspects are expected to appear in court on Thursday to answer to a host of charges.
Seized from the car:
- Cocaine – Valued at $5005
- Purple Fentanyl – Valued at $1298
- White Fentanyl powder – Valued at $1344
- Heroin – Undisclosed amount
- Oxycodone pills – Valued at $45
- Hydromorphone pills – Valued at $2320
- Cannabis – Undisclosed amount
- Canadian Currency – Undisclosed amount
Police have charged a 43-year-old Hamilton man with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Heroin
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Oxycodone
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Hydromorphone
- Possession proceeds of crime under $5000
- Possession of Cannabis for the purpose of selling
- Fail to comply probation X2
Police have charged a 62-year-old Hamilton man with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Heroin
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Oxycodone
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Hydromorphone
- Possession proceeds of crime under $5000
- Possession of Cannabis for the purpose of selling
- Possession of controlled substance – Cocaine
- Drive while under suspension
