Arrest made after 7-year-old was shot multiple times: Hamilton Police

Hamilton Police Service says it has arrested and charged 24-year-old Mohd Amiri in relation to the shooting of a seven-year-old boy on Gordon St.

Hamilton Police Service says it has arrested and charged 24-year-old Mohd Amiri in relation to the shooting of a seven-year-old boy on Gordon St.

On Jan. 23, police said they were dispatched to a residence for reports of a shooting. Police arrived to find a seven-year-old child who had been shot multiple times from gunshots that came into the home from the backyard, according to HPS.

Those involved in the shooting reportedly fled from the scene in a vehicle that was waiting on Gordon St.

Mohd Amiri faces the following charges:

  • Discharge Firearm with Intent
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily Harm
  • Careless Use of a Firearm
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order

Police say the vehicle has been identified but the firearm involved has not been recovered.

The child was treated in hospital and released, however, police he still receives medical care as a result of the injuries sustained.
