On Thursday shortly before 4:30 p.m. a 26-year-old Ancaster man was travelling westbound on the LINC when he was involved in a two-car collision.

The vehicles pulled off the road and the drivers became involved in a verbal altercation. The situation escalated and the suspect driver began to assault the complainant.

The drivers went to the ground as the suspect continued the assault. With the assistance of witnesses, the drivers were separated. When the 26-year-old man advised he was contacting police, the suspect left the scene.

Hamilton Police and Hamilton Paramedic Services later attended the younger man’s residence, where he provided the details of the incident and received treatment for minor injuries.

Hamilton Police continued the investigation and after speaking with witnesses, a 55-year-old Ancaster man was arrested in relation to the incident.

The man was taken into police custody and later released. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, to answer to the charge of assault.
