Alleged e-bike arsonist caught on camera, Hamilton Police say

Hamilton Police say an alleged e-bike arsonist has been caught on camera and they are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

Hamilton Police say an alleged e-bike arsonist has been caught on camera and they are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

The Hamilton Police Service says on June 12, 2020, shortly before 1:00 p.m., an e-bike was set on fire in an alleyway between Barton Street East and Wentworth Street Nort.

The fire was extinguished quickly before it spread to a nearby building or caused injuries but the e-bike received extensive damage.

Police and investigators from the arson unit reviewed area cameras and believe a man in his 30s is responsible for setting the fire.

The suspect is seen walking from the e-bike while tucking a red gas can inside a shopping bag before leaving on his own e-bike.

Police have shared images of who they say is the suspect in this case and they’re hoping members of the public might be able to help identify him.

The suspect is described as:

  • Man in his 30s
  • Averages build – 180 to 210 lbs
  • Blue baseball hat
