All active outbreaks of COVID-19 in Hamilton have been declared over

There are currently no active outbreaks at congregate or long-term care facilities in Hamilton.

As of Wednesday (June 10), all outbreaks had been declared over — the latest outbreak to have been declared over was the one at Hamilton General Hospital that affected the COVID-19 unit.

In a press release sent Wednesday night, Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) said: “In consultation with Hamilton Public Health Services, the outbreak on the Covid-19 unit (8 West) at the Hamilton General Hospital site of Hamilton Health Sciences has been declared over.”

The outbreak was declared back on May 23.

HHS said that in total, 10 health-care workers associated with 8 West tested positive for the virus.
