After 4 years of playing the lottery, Hamilton couple wins big

A Hamilton couple is celebrating after a big lottery win.

Married Ancaster couple Fouad Badran and Mary Ayad Fikry Eglaycus won $550,000 with The Bigger Spin Instant game, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission (OLG) said in a press release on Sept. 8.

The couple has been playing the lottery together for four years, the OLG said.

Badran stopped to pick up the ticket at Little Short Store on Pinebush Road in Cambridge and he played it while in the store.

“The store clerk told me I won big, and I was shocked,” Badran told the OLG. “I took a deep breath and called Mary then went home to show her.”

The win took the couple by surprise.

“We don’t usually win things,” Badran said. “My mind is racing with the possibilities.”

They plan to invest their win and take some time to figure out next steps.

“My wife will enjoy some shopping for sure,” Badran said.
