23-year-old pedestrian critically injured after being struck by vehicle in Hamilton

A pedestrian is in hospital with critical injuries after being hit by a vehicle while attempting to cross the street in the City of Hamilton last night.

On Friday (Oct. 13) around 10 p.m., Hamilton police say a man was walking eastbound on Cannon St. near Belview Ave, west of Barton St. E.

According to investigators, while the 23-year-old man was trying to cross the street, a Honda CRV was moving westbound on Cannon St.

It’s alleged the pedestrian crossed in front of the vehicle, resulting in a collision.

Emergency services swiftly transported the pedestrian to Hamilton General Hospital, where he currently remains in critical condition.

The driver of the Honda demonstrated responsibility by staying at the scene and cooperating with investigators, officers say.

Given the severity of the injuries, the HPS Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken charge of the investigation.

Authorities are urging any potential witnesses in the vicinity at the time of the collision or drivers with dashcam footage to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-546-4753.
