Update: 2 teen boys shot overnight in Hamilton

Two teen boys were injured in an overnight shooting in Hamilton.

Police were called to reports of multiple shots being fired at a townhouse complex on Limeridge Road, west of West 5th Street shortly before 2 a.m. this morning (Aug. 2), Hamilton Police said in a press release.

A 15-year-old boy was shot in the lower back and leg, police said. He was transported to hospital in serious but stable condition, police said.

Police then learned that a 16-year-old boy had also been shot in the same incident but had managed to flee the area.

He was shot in the buttocks and found at a nearby home on Golden Orchard Drive.

He was also transported to hospital and released after being treated for his injuries, police said.

The investigation is ongoing but police believe it is a targeted incident.

Update: Police now say that upon arrival, police and emergency partners found three teens on West 5th Avenue south of Limeridge Road. The two other teens were not injured.
